Horsebridge Hill, Newport

Captiva Homes is pleased to bring forward a proposal to deliver 203 homes at Acorn Farm, Horsebridge Hill, Newport and we would value your opinion and input on the plans.  Below you will find the site layout, following which there is a short questionnaire through which you can provide feedback.

Our goal in bringing this development forward is to deliver a housing scheme that provides the affordable housing Islanders really need.  The location on Newport’s Northern boundary provides close links to the hospital, prison, into central Newport and, potentially, onto the Cowes/Newport cycleway.

Key features of the proposed development include:

203 affordable homes
72 x 1 bed Key Worker Accommodation flats (which make up the 35% of affordable homes)
131 x ‘open market homes’ which will be converted to affordable in partnership with Sovereign Housing, consisting of:

        • 6 x 4 bedroom homes
        • 38 x 3 bedroom homes
        • 49 x 2 bedroom homes
        • 25 x 2 bedroom apartments
        • 13 x 1 bedroom apartments

These will provide a mix of socially rented and discount market sale homes.

Children’s play area and open space adjacent to the large existing oak trees (all of which are to be retained)

Highways: the proposal includes improvements and alterations to the existing road access from Horsebridge Hill, including a new signalised junction with two pedestrian crossings and a designated right-turn lane from Horsebridge Hill.

Offsite highways improvements include the widening of the southern side of Noke Common to create a flare for left turns and a new bus stop and shelter to South (Southbound).

Pedestrian and cycling links include a range of 3m wide multi-use surfaces connecting the site and Horsebridge Hill to Dodnor Lane.  This will provide significantly improved access through the site to St Mary’s Hospital and the Newport-Cowes cycle path.

We look forward to receiving your feedback.
